Confirmation class to see “Bruce Almighty”

The Confirmation Class invites the whole congregation to join them in a screening of the 2003 comedy Bruce Almighty on Saturday, April 2, at 7:00 p.m.

The movie centers around Bruce Nolan, a television reporter in Buffalo, N.Y., who is discontented with almost everything in his life despite his popularity and the love of his girlfriend Grace. At the end of a particularly horrible day, Bruce angrily ridicules and rages against God and God responds. God appears in human form and, endowing Bruce with divine powers, challenges Bruce to take on the big job to see if he can do it any better.

The movie raises questions about the will of God, the omnipotence of God, God’s action and inaction, and even images of God. And it’s a bawdy romp. Rated PG-13.
