Our chancel choir will present the Christmas Cantata, Festival of Lessons and Carols, on Sunday, December 20, during the 10:00 worship service.

Festival of Lessons and Carols, composed by John Leavitt, is based on the traditional service held each year in King’s College, Cambridge. It is set for SATB choir with piano and organ accompaniment. The cantata contains a wide array of favorite Advent and Christmas songs, including “Once in Royal David’s City,” “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” “Coventry Carol,” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.” A collection of traditional scripture readings are interspersed between the carols, including texts from Isaiah, Micah, Luke, Matthew, and John.

“Leavitt’s arrangement is joyous and classic, and is sure to enhance our Christmas festivities,” choir director Jonathan Borchardt said.
