At its meeting on May 18, the Niles Discovery Church Cabinet decided to embark on a strategic planning process during the 2015-2016 program year. “Now that we are fully merged as one congregation and moved into our new building, a question before us as a community is, ‘what’s next?’ A strategic plan will help us answer the ‘what’s next?’ question,” said Pastor Jeff. “It will help us determine how best to use the gifts we have to serve the greatest needs in our community.” A strategic plan will be a way for us to envision our future as a faith community, translate that vision into goals with strategies to achieve them, and allocate both our financial and human resources to effectively reach our desired vision.
Pastor Brenda was asked to staff the project, and she will be begin by working with a small task team that will research various strategic planning methods to determine the best process for our church, and then make a recommendation to Cabinet. Once the process is chosen, Cabinet hopes to begin in the fall, and have a completed plan for the congregation to approve at our next Annual Meeting in May.
