Exploding oil trains in Fremont?

CREDO-stop-oil-trainsNobody in Lac-Mégantic, Quebec, thought the long trains of tank cars running through their city would explode and incinerate their downtown. But that’s what happened just over a year ago in the middle of a July night. Trains with the same kind of tank cars are slated to run through the East Bay, along tracks shared by Amtrak, right through the back yards of residents of Fremont and other cities in the East Bay.

A group of Tri-City residents is responding. They are holding an educational and organizing event that will take place on Thursday, September 11, 7:00-9:00 p.m., at the Fremont Senior Center, 40086 Paseo Padre Parkway. The event is free, though donations will be accepted to help cover expenses. The facility is wheelchair accessible. More information at http://eotif.weebly.com.

Thanks for the notice, I remember a train tipping over with a load of iron ore, it was shocking to witness.
