Holy Week Plans take shape

Palm Sunday:  At the 10:00 service on April 13, the choir will present a cantata, “Wondrous Love.” It draws its primary text from the gospel of Matthew, beginning with Palm Sunday and continuing with scenes leading up to Christ’s crucifixion and burial. The interspersed choral selections serve as poignant reflections on the gospel text, and help to underscore Christ’s ‘wondrous love’ for us. The collection includes choral works by Holt, Koerts, Niles, Dengler, and more.

Maundy Thursday: The Maundy Thursday (April 17) service will be held at Filipino-America UCC, 4587 Peralta Ave., Fremont at 6:30 p.m. The service will be gathered around the dinner table and will include a simple soup and bread supper.

Good Friday:  The Good Friday (April 18) service will be held at Fremont Congregational at 7:30 p.m. The service will be a meditation on the seven last words of Christ and will include music from the Taizé community.

Easter Sunrise:  Celebrate the resurrection at sunrise (6:30 a.m.) at the Niles Town Plaza (April 20). The service will include singing, story, and communion.

Easter Festival:  The celebration of the resurrection will continue at the 10:00 festival Easter service, held in the sanctuary. Joy abounds with choruses of “Alleluia,” special anthems from the choir, and communion.
